In 2014, the Ukrainian Armed Forces introduced a modern military camouflage uniform, designated MM14, to replace the outdated Soviet Dubok uniform. It was the fighting in eastern Ukraine that was the decisive step in replacing the existing uniform. Commissioned by the Ukrainian Defense Ministry, the uniforms were developed by the Norwegian company NFM Group.
The name of the camouflage is an abbreviation for маскувальний малюнок (maskuval'nyy malyunok - camouflage pattern) and the year 2014, when the pattern was approved. In addition to its official name, the camouflage is also known by the names Ukrainian Pixel Camo and Ukrainian Digital Camo.
Camouflage MM-14 is a pattern that has some similarities with the American UCP (Universal Camouflage Pattern), but differs in color. It features a pixel structure consisting of five different colors: a light straw beige as a base, three muted shades of olive green and a deep dark green. This well-balanced color palette has been carefully adapted to the terrain of eastern Ukraine, where farmland predominates and forests make up a relatively small area.
The production of MM14 camouflage clothing was initially focused mainly on uniforms, but is now steadily expanding, introducing a range of new compatible accessories and tactical equipment. Our offer includes tactical vests, enabling efficient organization of equipment, as well as loaders, pockets, shirts, drop bags or medical trays. There are also holsters available, perfectly matching the whole, as well as headgear for various purposes.
The use of MM-14 camouflage was an important step in the reform of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which aimed to break away from the Soviet legacy and create a new, distinct identity. Until now, the uniforms of Ukrainian soldiers often resembled those used in other former Eastern Bloc countries, making them difficult to distinguish from other armies. The introduction of new uniforms has not only created a unified image for the Ukrainian armed forces, but has also affected the way Ukraine is perceived internationally. By getting rid of the Russian uniform and replacing it with a more "Western" one, the Ukrainian army has distanced itself from its past.
