Today it is difficult to imagine a field trip of several days without a suitable shelter that will guarantee us protection from the adverse weather conditions we sometimes encounter. We are talking about one of the oldest mobile shelters - the tent - which has changed its form many times over the years. Originally it served only as a shelter, and today tents are very common in various forms, from the simplest tourist tent, to expeditionary, commercial or military tents. In this text, however, we will focus on 4-person tents. Large, spacious, roomy - the multitude of shapes, designs and sizes available on the market gives us the opportunity to choose the most suitable one for our needs. However, what should we pay attention to when choosing one?

First of all, determine your preferences - whether you want the tent to be used only for sleeping, or to have more space (for example, a 4-person tent with a vestibule) or separate sleeping compartments. When going camping with the family, it is advisable to opt for a 4-person family tent, which will provide comfort for all family members thanks to its large space.

If you are not concerned about the weight of the folded tent and its size (for example, going camping by car), you can confidently be tempted to choose a large, spacious 4-person 2-bedroom tent, which will provide a certain amount of privacy and a vestibule that will serve as a "living room". In a sufficiently large vestibule you will boldly be able to place a hiking table and chairs for all participants of the expedition, such 4-person high tents will provide shelter from the sun and rain. In case you don't need such comforts as a 4-person 2-bedroom tent, and the tent will only serve as a sleeping area, a single-chamber tent with a small vestibule acting as a "closet" for your gear will be enough. In such a situation, a 4-person iglo tent will work great. The 4-person iglo tent type is one of the most popular models due to the simplicity and speed with which it can be set up.

Another important consideration is the design and materials of 4-person hiking tents. The most common solution is to divide the tent into two parts, the first is a tropical tent stretched on a folding frame made of steel, fiberglass or carbon fiber, it acts as an outer protective layer. Made of waterproof material with taped seams, it can be enriched by manufacturers in the production process with properties such as Fire Retardant (self-extinguishing in case of ignition), an additional membrane to enhance weather resistance (such as WeatherTec by Coleman) or UV protection. When camping, it is worth taking into account the changing weather, which can affect the comfort of your vacation. When choosing a tent for 4 people, an important element is a tropical tent, which gives additional protection to the inside of the tent against rain getting inside, as well as intense rays of the sun. When setting up a tent with a 4-person flysheet, it is necessary to take care of proper stretching. A taut flysheet will ensure that rain does not accumulate, but gently runs down the sides.

Inside, underneath the trouser, the second part - the sleeping chamber - is attached to the frame. The floor of the sleeping chamber is made of a thicker, puncture- or tear-resistant material, often also having self-extinguishing properties. The side walls of the sleeping compartment are most often made of mesh material, which, combined with windows/ventilators in the flysheet, provide adequate ventilation inside the tent. An important feature of 4-person tropical tents is to ensure air circulation at an optimal level. Regardless of the model of the 4-person tent, high-quality materials are used in their production. This makes it durable and resistant to various types of damage. In the sleeping compartment itself, you can often find such additional details as pockets and organizers for small equipment, loops under the ceiling for attaching tent lighting or an overhead shelf. If the family tent has a larger vestibule, additional pockets or shelves can also be used in it. The large number of pockets found in a 4-person family tent makes it easy to stay organized and store more things. Some manufacturers add a separate piece of fabric to the tent (usually the same as on the floor of the sleeping compartment), which, when attached to the hooks in the frame, serves as the floor in the vestibule. Such an additional floor found in a tent for a family of 4 prevents dirt and sand from being brought inside, or is a good place to store shoes. In order to better illuminate the "living room" that is the high vestibule, part of the tropical wall material surrounding the vestibule is replaced with a transparent material. As a result, we do not feel the need for additional lighting in the daytime part of the tent.

Since four-person tents are large in their design, their construction also requires specific solutions. The more frame poles used, the more stable the tent is, and the specific parts of the tent are more formable. Additional security is provided by pull ropes attached to loops on the outside of the tent and tied to pegs driven into the ground. Correctly and evenly stretched lines ensure the stability of the tent frame even in high winds. Manufacturers also make sure that 4-person tents with a flysheet are convenient and quick to set up.
