The book Market-Garden Operation through the Eyes of the Soldiers of the 1st Independent Parachute Brigade of General Stanislaw Sosabowski describes the course of the largest airborne operation in the history of World War II and the fate of the Poles who took part in it.
This is a personal account by Slawomir Kwiatkowski, a participant in the operation and a soldier of the 1st SBS, of the events that engulfed the world in September 1944. In more than four hundred pages, the author describes his personal experiences, cites accounts of colleagues, friends, soldiers, as well as documents and photographs showing the combat trail of Polish paratroopers.
Operation Market-Garden was aimed at securing bridges over the Moselle, Waal and Rhine rivers in the Netherlands to bypass the heavily fortified German defensive Siegfried Line and ensure a quick march on Berlin.
The book allows you to learn about the behind-the-scenes formation of the legendary Brigade and the facts about Stanislaw Sosabowski, the unit commander wrongly blamed by the Allies for the failure of the operation.
The book is written in Polish.
