The skeleton and all tools are made of high-quality stainless steel, which has been professionally heat-treated so that each component has a hardness optimally adapted to its function. The handle facings are titanium alloy characterised by high strength, low weight and an aesthetic appearance. The lack of sharp edges and the slightly rough texture of the titanium provide comfort and confidence in handling the combos.

The smooth knife blade, serrated knife blade, saw and file can be opened without disassembling the combiner. Thanks to the thumb holes, the knife blades can be opened in no time with one hand. The 4 tools listed are locked with individual liner-lock locks, the others work with two ratchet locks similar to the back-lock system.

The most noteworthy feature is the smooth knife blade, which is made of highly dull-resistant CPM S30V stainless steel, which is virtually unheard of in typical multitools. The use of such good steel, combined with the one-handed opening option, makes the Leatherman Charge a viable alternative to the classic folding knife.

The screwdriver sockets, together with a set of double-sided bits of various types, allow for a wide range of assembly work and repair of a variety of equipment. One large and one small bit are fitted into the multitool's sockets at the factory.
