Maskpol Combat Shirt - MAPA

High-quality tactical combat shirt in MAPA camouflage, which works especially well in forest terrain.

The camouflage pattern MAPA was designed by Maciej Dojlitko, a graduate and currently a researcher at the Faculty of Architecture and Design of the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk, author of, among other publications, Theory of Deconstruction of Visual Communication. Tools for designing military camouflage (Gdansk 2015). The innovative design, supported by convincing theoretical and experimental arguments, including computer analysis of thousands of photographs of the terrain, attracted the attention of specialists and military clothing manufacturers. In 2017, the MAPA camouflage made its debut at the International Defense Industry Exhibition in Kielce as a camouflage pattern for the Dromader system of armor and uniforms from Maskpol, which is part of the Polish Armament Group. The system was created for soldiers of the Territorial Defense Army, but the MAPA camouflage itself was also considered as a perspective pattern for the entire Polish Armed Forces, where it could replace the wz.93 camouflage. Unfortunately, the MAPA camouflage has not been implemented as an official camouflage pattern of the Polish Army to date.

Highlights of the MAPA camouflage in the basic forest variant:
- 6 colors that form layers resembling levels on a map,
- colors optimized for operations in the forests of Central Europe,
- use of the illusion of three-dimensionality and anamorphosis effect,
- biomorphic shapes making the design similar to vegetation,
- strongly contrasting elements imitating flashes of light and shadows,
- deformation of the masked silhouette using macro pattern,
- color noise reproduced by means of a micro pattern.

The MAPA pattern is an interesting alternative to the best contemporary camouflage patterns such as PenCott, MultiCam, Kryptek, Flecktarn or Finnish M/05. In some respects, it is more advanced than them, and better reproduces the colors found in Central European forests in the period from later spring to early autumn.

The sleeves were sewn from a blend of cotton and polyester, which is characterized by lightness, durability and fast drying time, it is also characterized by high resistance to abrasion and tearing, thanks to the use of Rip-Stop weave . The middle part of the sweatshirt is polyester with the addition of Lycra .

Velcro ( velcro ) panels have been sewn on both shoulders of the sweatshirt, allowing to attach any emblems, such as the national flag, the emblem of the unit or the so-called Morale Patches, so you can give the sweatshirt an individual character.

The advantage is also the zippered practical pockets located on the sleeves. Elastic cuffs have been replaced by a Velcro-fastened patch, which allows you to adjust the size depending on the thickness of the wrist, as well as whether the wearer is also wearing gloves or, for example, a watch.

In addition, special baffles for protectors have been placed in the elbow area. The sweatshirt has a high collar, fastened with a short zipper, so it seals the neckline quite well and protects against winding and abrasions.
