Maskpol Softshell SMD-01 Women's Sweatshirt - MAPA

Women's tactical softshell sweatshirt with inserts of uniform material in MAPA camouflage. It will be great for survival, hiking, ASG and recreational outdoor activities. Due to its multi-layer construction, the sweatshirt not only effectively protects against wind and rain, but also does not require additional warming clothing.

The softshell is made of a three-layer polyester laminate:
- outer weather-resistant impregnated fabric,
- middle PTFE Teflon membrane,
- inner fleece warming lining.

The collar, interior of the hood, pockets and sleeves have been reinforced with US-23 uniform material - a durable 50/50 combination of soft cotton and polyester. Thanks to the Rip-Stop weave, the material is durable and resistant to abrasion and tearing.

The whole garment is fastened with a sturdy one-way zipper. The high zipper is part of the hood with a welt, which further protects the head from the cold and wind. For improved thermal comfort, there are underarm vents.

The cuffs are finished with elastic piping, and the bottom waistband is equipped with an elastic drawstring with a stopper, which allows to adjust the width to the wearer's silhouette and protects it from blowing up.

The model is equipped with 2 classic side pockets closed with zippers. The interior of the pockets is finished with airy mesh.

On the sleeves, there are sewn 2 large velcro panels, which allow attaching any emblems, such as insignia, state flag, unit emblem or so-called Morale Patches. On the right chest there is Velcro for the namesake.

The MAPA camouflage pattern was designed by Maciej Dojlitko, a graduate and currently a researcher at the Faculty of Architecture and Design of the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk, author of, among other publications, Theory of Deconstruction of Visual Communication. Tools for designing military camouflage ( Gdansk 2015). The innovative design, supported by convincing theoretical and experimental arguments, including computer analysis of thousands of photographs of the terrain, attracted the attention of specialists and military clothing manufacturers. In 2017, the MAPA camouflage made its debut at the International Defense Industry Exhibition in Kielce as a camouflage pattern for the Dromader system of accouterment and uniforms from Maskpol, which is part of the Polish Armaments Group. The system was created for soldiers of the Territorial Defense Army, but the MAPA camouflage itself was also considered as a perspective pattern for the entire Polish Armed Forces, where it could replace camouflage wz.93. Unfortunately, the MAPA camouflage has not been implemented as an official camouflage pattern of the Polish Army to date.

The main features of MAPA camouflage in the basic forest variant:
- 6 colors forming layers resembling levels on a map,
- colors optimized for operations in the forests of Central Europe,
- use of the illusion of three-dimensionality and anamorphosis effect,
- biomorphic shapes making the design similar to vegetation,
- strongly contrasting elements imitating flashes of light and shadows,
- deformation of the masked silhouette using macro pattern,
- color noise reproduced by means of a micro pattern.

The MAPA pattern is an interesting alternative to the best contemporary camouflage patterns such as PenCott, MultiCam, Kryptek, Flecktarn or Finnish M/05. In some respects it is more advanced than them, and also better reproduces the colors found in Central European forests in the period from later spring to early autumn.
