Nikwax Polar Proof Water Repellent 300 ml

An easy-to-use, safe and highly effective waterproofing treatment for fleece. It imparts permanent water repellency, reducing weight gain and preserving the breathability and insulation of the fleece in wet weather.

Although individual fleece fibers do not absorb water, it can happen that water gets into the spaces between the fibers. The accumulation of water reduces the insulating properties of the fleece, and also increases the weight; the fleece can retain water equal to half its weight! This reduces the wearer's comfort, causing the wearer to feel damp and cold, but more importantly, the reduction in insulation is dangerous and in extreme cases can lead to hypothermia.

Nikwax Polar Proof® is specifically designed and optimized for fleece garments: it leaves a flexible hydrophobic layer on the individual fibers, allowing moisture vapor to pass through, maintaining breathability and optimizing performance in wet weather. In addition, it stops the threads of the fleece from tangling, extending its life.

Adding the waterproofing agent to a machine wash, ensures that the agent will pass through the garment completely. Durable water repellency (DWR) is produced when air-drying.

Nikwax care and waterproofing products were developed on a water-based basis (WaterBased), are non-aerosol, non-flammable, safe and environmentally friendly. They contain no hazardous solvents or volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and are completely free of fluorocarbons (which have been shown to remain in the environment for long periods of time and have been linked to serious health problems).
