Book "Kresy na Pomorzu" - Marek A. Koprowski

By taking the Borderlands, Stalin assumed that Poland would be ruled by communists and wanted to compensate them by weakening them to the maximum.

Here's a story about a fragment of the Recovered Territories, namely Western Pomerania, specifically the Kamieńskie Land, located on the Kamieńskie Lagoon. Here, at the end of 1945, displaced persons from the Lviv region arrived, who, by the verdict of history, had to leave their native lands to start life anew in the unfamiliar Pomerania.

When they arrived, the former inhabitants of this corner, the Germans, were still here. They too, against their will, had to leave here. Some of them did so in advance, many died or were simply murdered. This was Stalin's decision, and none of the Western Allies dared to oppose him.

The book consists of two parts. The first is an extensive introduction - a historical outline that ends with the Polish political transition. It necessarily focuses on a few of the most important themes, primarily the circumstances under which Poland came into possession of Pomerania.

The second part is the accounts of the last witnesses to history, who remember life in Malopolska and the postwar exodus to the Recovered Territories. Their authors come from the village of Brzozdowce. They tell of colorful life during the Second Polish Republic, when the village was a Polish-Russian-Jewish community with all the associated borderland color. The accounts also take a closer look at the life of the pioneers in the first years on their new farms, as well as in the period afterwards.

The two parts complement each other. The accounts show the life of post-war pioneers in the Recovered Territories no worse than the film "Sami Swoi."
