The rich history of the Polish Legions described in the voice of all those who made a significant contribution to the work of regaining independence.
The volume Tworzyli Wojsko Polskie is based, like the previous ones, on memoirs, accounts and documents written in the years 1917-1918.The author again gives voice to both the Pilsudskiites and supporters of other political orientations.
In his study, Koprowski shows the richness of the entire independence camp, which did not consist solely of Piłsudskiites, but was much broader. From his considerations, it is clear that Pilsudski treated the Legions instrumentally, and when he found them to be an argument of attrition, he was inclined to disband them, focusing on illegal methods of work in the Polish Military Organization.
All the more reason for the author to consistently emphasize the important contribution to the restoration of independence not only of the First Brigade, but also of the soldiers of other formations formed in the East, especially the Second Brigade. He points out the important role for the functioning of the Legions of the circle of Kraków conservatives, above all the Chief National Committee and its Military Department, created by them. He brings to the pages the voices of activists and politicians of all options. Reading these sources will allow the reader to form his own view of the history and legend of the Polish Legions.
The book in a Polish language version.
