Book "Duch' 44" - Stanisław Zasada
Always in the shadows, always needed, finally appreciated. Stanislaw Zasada has created captivating portraits of 10 chaplains of the Warsaw Uprising. Priests who accompanied the insurgents and fought themselves. Their biographies are proof of how powerful the power of the Spirit is. Even in the face of defeat.
When the Old Town capitulates, sorrow for sins and absolution become more precious than life. General Antoni Chruściel "Monter" orders the introduction of uniform morning and evening prayers in the units. Among the ruins, services are not silent. On the first Sunday of the Uprising in Powisle, mass is celebrated by the chaplain of the "Konrad" unit.
There were about 150 chaplains of the Uprising. 40 died during the fighting. The first fallen shortly after the start of the "W" Hour was Father Tadeusz Burzynski, who today is a candidate for the altars. The Dominican priest Michał Czartoryski and the Pallottine priest Józef Stanek were beatified by Pope John Paul II. John Zieja still shames with his evangelical simplicity of life. All of them are only today regaining the name of heroes.
