The entry of the United States into World War II provided the Allied coalition with powerful American industrial support and enabled it to take the strategic lead in the battles against Germany and Japan on various continents. The main role in this was played by the U.S. arms industry supplying, among other things, tanks and other armored combat vehicles. Between 1939 and 1945, 88,140 tanks and 18,620 other armored vehicles were produced in the United States - almost twice as many as Germany and Britain combined during the same period.

In this lavishly illustrated book, Michael Green, an armored weapons specialist, introduced the various types of American combat vehicles of World War II: from the notorious M4 Sherman, M3 Stuart and M3 Lee tanks, to semi-tracked transporters, self-propelled guns, tank destroyers, armored evacuation vehicles and tracked amphibious landing craft. He described their design and development, their participation in wartime battles, and assessed the impact they had on the final outcome of this global conflict. The tanks and other armored vehicles that left American factories armed not only the U.S. Army, but also the armies of Britain and other Allied coalition countries, forming the powerful Allied "armored fist" that inflicted the final defeat on Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan.

Michael Green is an acclaimed author, historian and photographer; he has written more than a hundred books on military subjects, translated into many languages; in addition, he has published numerous articles in American and international periodicals specializing in military technology issues.

The book is written in Polish.
