Tiger, the "king" of the battlefields on the Eastern Front, in North Africa and Western Europe during the years of World War II, is - due to its massive figure and great firepower - one of the most famous tanks in history. Its deadly accurate and effective 8.8-cm KwK L/56 cannon was feared by Soviet and Allied tankers, and for good reason - it was able to pierce the armor of any fighting vehicle of the time.
The book presents the history of the Tiger from its origins and the first prototype models to the numerous variants built on the chassis of this tank. It presents in detail the mechanics of the Tiger and its tactical and technical data - armor, armament and ammunition - that made it such a dangerous weapon. Based on preserved archival materials, supplemented by the recollections of tank crew members, the author also comments on widespread opinions about Tigers - both about their alleged indestructibility and decisive role in many battles, as well as their excessive structural complexity and unreliability at the front.
This remarkable monograph contains many previously unpublished photos, strikingly illustrating the Tiger's combat history. It cites excerpts from the service manuals of the tanks described, as well as recollections of veterans of the Wehrmacht and Waffen-SS armored forces from German archives about this most famous tank in the history of wars.
The book is written in Polish.
