The FT-4XE is a handheld dual-band radio with a maximum power of 5 watts with the ability to be reduced to 2.5W and 0.5W, allowing you to adjust the power according to your needs and conditions. A 1750 mAh Li-Ion battery guarantees the radio's operation for up to 15 hours.
A characteristic feature of the radio is Dual Receive, which means listening to two channels. This allows monitoring two different frequencies. The radio is also equipped with various communication and programming options, including the ability to store 200 channels in the device's memory, VOX operation with an optional microphone kit, computer programming and cloning of settings from another device. Safety features incorporated into the model include alarm, channel lock, and automatic power off.
TheARTS function, or Automatic Range Transponder System, is an automatic range checking system used in radios. This feature allows the radio to automatically notify the user when the radio is out of range of another radio configured with the same ARTS system. This feature is particularly useful in professional situations where a group of people must maintain continuous communications over a wide area, such as a construction site, major events or search operations, allowing rapid response to the loss of communications with any member of the group.
DTMF (Dual Tone Multi Frequency)operation is a feature used in radios to control various devices or access telecommunications systems by generating specific tones. Each key pressed on the radio's keypad generates a unique combination of two tones at different frequencies, allowing commands to be transmitted in audio form. The DTMF system is commonly used in a variety of applications, such as remote gate control, activating alarm systems, or dialing telephone numbers. It also allows remote activation and deactivation of functions on base stations and other radios that support this feature. With DTMF operation, users can perform a range of activities without direct physical contact with the target device, which is particularly useful in conditions where direct access is difficult or impossible.
CTCSS (Continuous Tone-Coded Squelch System) and DCS (Digital Code Squelch) operation are two methods used in radio communications to filter unwanted signals and reduce interference. They allow the reception of only those signals that contain the correct tone or code, which is particularly useful in environments where multiple users operate on the same or similar frequencies. Both features are extremely helpful in keeping the communication channel clear and preventing accidental reception of transmissions from unwanted sources, which is especially important when using radios in professional and hobbyist radio.
The radio'sQRK (Quick Recall Keys) are quick-access buttons that allow the user to manipulate important device functions quickly and easily without having to browse through menus. They can be configured to perform specific actions, such as quickly recalling a specific frequency, activating the scan function, or activating VOX mode.
The built-in FM radio allows you to listen to your favorite station during breaks from conversation. The compact size and light weight make the device easy to transport and use.
