Kalahari pants
Are you looking for the right pants for the baking heat? Or are you going to the hot tropics and want to protect your legs from insects without sacrificing the comfort provided by shorts? Even if you plan to hike alone in the desert, the Pentagon kalahari pants will be perfect. This is such a popular model that we decided to devote a separate category to it, since its solutions stand out from the competition and it is quite hard to find a model that could compete with it when it comes to long pants designed for high temperatures.
However, let's start at the beginning, that is, with the company producing this very interesting model. Pentagon, for that is the manufacturer's name, originates from Greece and is a brand gaining popularity, including in Poland. It has been present on the market since the 1990s, when it was engaged in importing and selling demobiles of the American and Greek armies. With the increase in demand for this type of clothing, Pentagon decided to follow suit and introduce original models, improving the cut and increasingly improving classic models of combat pants and uniform sweatshirts. A perfect example is the wildly popular BDU 2.0 pants, which offer great quality at a low price. With the company's growth, it was time to expand into the hiking market as well, which also needed dedicated models for its activities, and the Kalahari pants are a great example.
This is actually a clothing line, as it includes not only pants, but also caps and hats and shorts. We would still love to see shirts made of this material, but for now they are not available, although in the coming years - who knows? The composition of the Pentagon kalahari pants is pure nylon stitched with rip-stop weave, which is a nylon mesh found in the fabric of the pants to prevent tearing and abrasion, as well as to prevent the expansion of already formed cavities. Kalahari pants are characterized above all by their lightness and breathability, as they are at least twice as light as their competitors' counterparts, and their thin structure is not reflected in the loss of strength of the material, which is additionally reinforced not only at the edges of the pockets, but also at the buttocks, crotch and leg ends, all places that are particularly vulnerable to mechanical damage. In addition, they can be eminently compressed, so they take up a ridiculously small amount of space in your luggage, and can even be carried in the cargo pocket of your pants, having them on hand for changing. In case of rain, of course, they get wet, but they have unexpectedly good drying properties, making them fully dry a few tens of minutes after the rain.
In the Kalahari pants you will find six pockets, two of which are hip pockets with reinforced edges. Then there are two back pockets, fastened with Velcro, and two profiled cargo pockets located on the thighs, also fastened with Velcro. Thanks to these solutions, getting the necessary accessories is quick and hassle-free. They can easily accommodate items such as a wallet, phone, flashlight or even a larger pocket knife.
The intended use of the described Kalahari pants is primarily for conditions with higher temperatures, above twenty degrees celsius. Due to their structure, they are suitable for comfortable use also in summer, although not only, as we should remember that each of us has individual body thermals and feels temperature spikes differently, so if you have problems with comfort in ordinary pants made of cotton or its blend with polyester, we encourage you to try these ultra-thin pants from the Greek manufacturer. However, the fullness of their uses can be felt during heat waves not only in the tropics, but increasingly in Poland, where temperatures above thirty degrees are not some kind of rarity during the summer. For various reasons, sometimes we do not want to put on shorts, and in such situations it is the kalahari model that comes to our aid. During use, the perceived comfort is comparable to wearing short shorts. We encourage you to try this interesting model, maybe you will find the pants you have been looking for a very long time, not knowing that they may be at your fingertips!
