In this category you will find a collection of belay and rappelling devices. This is a must-have piece of equipment for any person who is thinking about climbing - professionally or amateur. In other categories on the site you will also find other accessories like harnesses, climbing carabiners, ropes or helmets.

What this sport has going for it is that every thing you will need must be made solidly, with good materials and meet demanding standards. After all, it's all about your safety. Like most climbing accessories, the climbing belay device is mostly made of aluminum alloy. This guarantees low weight and adequate durability. It must also be carefully ground, otherwise any imperfection will hinder the climbing or rappelling itself, or in the worse case, cause the rope to rub.

While we're on the subject of ropes, it's worth mentioning that most of the devices are universal. That is, they fit ropes of different diameters. You will always find the exact details in the description of a particular product. Their universality also applies to the type of climbing.

Belaying and descending instruments are divided into several types. The main two groups into which they fall are automatic and semi-automatic devices. Automatic instruments are designed so that they lock themselves automatically whenever they "sense" a gwat movement. This can be compared to the operation of seat belts in a car. When you are in the process of climbing and suddenly break away from the wall, such a device will automatically lock itself and stop you in place. Semi-automatic, on the other hand, primarily increases friction and has no moving parts, as is the case with self-locking devices.

Another division of the belay and rappelling device will depend on its construction. It can be a figure eight, cup, cup-like instruments, ATC Guide or Reverso for Petzl products. The figure-eight descent device is primarily used for descents, and on most walls it is simply prohibited for climbing and belaying, as it does not guarantee such safety and immediate locking. For the descents themselves, on the other hand, it is ideal. "Mug," on the other hand, works better for belaying during climbing than for the descents themselves. It simply has too much braking power, but at the same time it is easy to use. The cup-like device is an improved, more versatile product and can be used to belay two people simultaneously. What, on the other hand, is a reverso for Petzl products? Descent instruments of this type have very versatile applications - both belaying and descending, single and double ropes, etc.

Which instrument, then, should you choose for yourself? It all depends on what applications you need it for. If you want to start with a single piece, then it is definitely better to buy a universal product, which you will be able to use for most special tasks. However, if you like a specific purpose, then it is worth getting two instruments with different purposes.

In our offer you will find products from Petzl or Climbing Technology. Both companies specialize in the production of accessories for climbing and general safety improvement - such as helmets. Petzl additionally makes great headlamps, which are ideal for night climbing.

We invite you to browse the offer at military.pl and select a downhill device tailored to you. We also invite you to browse the offer from other categories like climbing harnesses, climbing ropes, helmets or carabiners. It all adds up to increase your safety in this sport - and health is the most important thing.
