The authors have discussed the basic elements necessary for the basic tactical training of a soldier and subunit up to the level of a fire section. The preparation of the publication was based on the available literature on the subject, using the experience of the NATO armed forces: the US, Canada, Great Britain, France and the Polish Army in this regard. For the first time, the authors also reached for the widely cited literature in Russian (former USSR, Russian Federation) and from Ukraine and Belarus, so as to bring the audience closer to the tactical school there as well. The synthesis also captures much of the authors' own experience, resulting from many years of training work in pro-defense organizations.

The structure of the study results from the assumptions made by the authors. The chapters discuss tactical training, fire training, hand-to-hand combat, military survival and communications in turn.
