Millitary.co.uk is not only about camping equipment and clothing with military-tactical or tourist characteristics. We also offer a wide range of literature on the aforementioned topics and, in this case, books on strategy and tactics. This is a very broad subject that continues to evolve over the years. Some of the older items treating the art of war are more than two thousand years old, and some of the theses contained in them are still relevant even today. Nonetheless, the pace of militarism has been gaining momentum over the past few years - armies of many thousands are less and less frequently involved in armed conflicts. More and more often, specialized combat units of special forces are thrown into battle, whose effectiveness is indisputable, and it is the operators who often play a key role during conflicts.
At the outset, it is important to distinguish what is the difference between strategy and tactics, as they are very different concepts, but sometimes used interchangeably. Strategy is an element of national security, defining how to direct and use military capabilities to achieve the goals of a country or a group of them. It is a combination of both theory and practice in armed combat and aftermath focusing on a specific goal not only during the war, but also before it and what comes after it. A distinction is made between civilian strategy, which is designed to support war strategy through production tiers or directing those tiers to long-term goals in order to achieve the stated objectives.
Tactics, on the other hand, is the lowest, which does not mean the least important, element of the military. These two fields can be compared as macro management (strategy) and micro (tactics). This is nothing more than the management of military units to destroy a given object or a way of fighting adapted to specific conditions or the prevailing environment. Today we most often distinguish tactics by color - green, black, blue. The first is the conduct of operations in terrain outside built-up areas, black refers to fighting in urban conditions, and blue is the style of operations conducted on water. Depending on the type of terrain, operators are trained different methods of using their skills, so special units often specialize in a narrow field, acquiring expert skills. The best example is Gdynia's Formosa formation, which focuses its operations precisely on conducting combat operations in water conditions.
Thanks to our range of books on strategy and tactics, you will learn more about the nuances of the battlefield, which are often very intricate and invisible at first glance. A great advantage of such literature is that former operators of special units from all over the world, including one of the best units - the Polish GROM unit - collaborate (or even are authors) in the co-creation of these books. You'll learn how many sacrifices an elite soldier has to endure, what murderous training and selection for special units looks like, and what modern combat looks like from the inside. Of course, we don't focus only on the present, and we also offer the best books on the great conflicts of the past, not only the 20th century, but also times much earlier, from which you will learn what the tactics of troops from even the 16th century looked like. This is an excellent source of historical knowledge and an ideal offer for anyone interested in military history throughout history.
Feel free to browse through the list of available titles, books on strategy and tactics are quite a sizable section of literature that has been thriving over the past few years. Without an understanding of the past, it is difficult to comprehend the present, especially when it comes to the military. For example, one of the most popular tactics was the well-known charge, which the Polish hussars perfected, but with the advent of machine guns, these tactics had to change and, as a result, transformed into mechanized troops. There are many more similar nuances, and you can learn about all of them from the professional literature, a full list of which can be found on our Military.pl website.
