Made of abrasion-resistant 500D Cordura, the patch features the B (III) Rh+ blood type. The so-called Jansky-ego markings (Roman numerals) are blood type markings that are used in Eastern European countries. It was made with Laser Cut technology, which prevents the edges from fraying. A velcro (Velcro ) panel makes it possible to attach the patch to clothing or other pieces of equipment.
The blood type emblem is intended to provide quick and necessary information for medical services.
The name MM-14 is an abbreviation for маскувальний малюнок (maskuvalʹnyy malyunok = camouflage pattern) and the year 2014, when the camouflage was officially approved. The pattern refers to the American UCP camouflage, but shades were chosen to match the colors naturally found on Ukrainian territory. The introduction of the MM-14 camouflage pattern was an important part of the Ukrainian army's reform to break with post-Soviet identification. Unofficially, MM14 camouflage also goes by the names Ukrainian Pixel Camo and Ukrainian Digital Camo.
