Wisport Gecko Hip bag - MAPA
Spacious and reliable kidney-type bag. Made of very strong Cordura. Accommodates a flashlight, knife, pocket knife, multitool, flint, keys, documents or wallet, among others. Great for transporting your EDC without weighing down your pants pocket or taking a larger bag or backpack. The Knife Kidney features 3 compartments that are closed with zippers.
The camouflage pattern MAPA was designed by Maciej Dojlitko, a graduate and currently a researcher at the Faculty of Architecture and Design of the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk, author of, among others, the publication Theory of Deconstruction of Visual Communication. Tools of military camouflage design (Gdansk 2015). The innovative design, supported by convincing theoretical and experimental arguments, including computer analysis of thousands of photographs of the terrain, attracted the attention of specialists and military clothing manufacturers. In 2017, the MAPA camouflage made its debut at the International Defense Industry Exhibition in Kielce as a camouflage pattern for the Dromader system of armor and uniforms from Maskpol, which is part of the Polish Armament Group. The system was created for soldiers of the Territorial Defense Army, but the MAPA camouflage itself was also considered as a perspective pattern for the entire Polish Armed Forces, where it could replace the camouflage pattern wz.93. Unfortunately, the MAPA camouflage has not been implemented as an official camouflage pattern of the Polish Army to date.
.
Most important features of the MAPA camouflage in the basic forest variant:
.
- 6 colors forming layers resembling levels on a map,
. - colors optimized for operations in the forests of Central Europe,
. - use of the illusion of three-dimensionality and anamorphosis effect,
. - biomorphic shapes making the design similar to vegetation,
- strongly contrasting elements imitating flashes of light and shadows,
- deformation of the masked silhouette using a macro pattern,
- color noise reproduced by means of a micro pattern.
The MAPA pattern is an interesting alternative to the best contemporary camouflage patterns such as PenCott, MultiCam, Kryptek, Flecktarn or Finnish M/05. It is more advanced than them in some respects, and better reproduces the colors found in Central European forests in the period from later spring to early autumn.

In the main compartment there is a flat zippered pocket and a mesh compartment. A rubber band has also been added, allowing for easy organization of items (such as a multitool, flashlight, knife and/or pens). Another elastic band for organizing items and a mesh pocket have been sewn into the front compartment.
.
On and beside the front pocket, as well as on the back panel, were sewnstraps of the Molle trouser system. The straps on the back allow the Gekon to be attached to a backpack with a twin strap system, while those on the front allow items of urgent equipment to be carried outside. A panel velcro has been sewn onto the front straps, allowing the rump to be marked with a national flag patch, unit emblem or so-called Morale Patch.
Attached to the end of each of the two-way zippers are paracord cables, which dampen the bumping of the zipper ends against each other and can also act as spare trousers. The zipper of the main compartment is covered by a strip that prevents dirt accumulation. The kidney can be worn on the belt or on the chest. The belt is fastened with a fastex buckle and is adjustable in length.
