Wisport Toke Hip Bag - MAPA
Compact and reliable kidney type bag in military camouflage MAPA. Made of very strong Cordura. Great for transporting EDC without weighing down your pants pocket or taking a larger bag or backpack.
The camouflage pattern MAPA was designed by Maciej Dojlitko, a graduate and currently a researcher at the Faculty of Architecture and Design of the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk, author of, among other publications, Theory of Deconstruction of Visual Communication. Tools for designing military camouflage (Gdansk 2015). The innovative design, supported by convincing theoretical and experimental arguments, including computer analysis of thousands of photographs of the terrain, attracted the attention of specialists and military clothing manufacturers. In 2017, the MAPA camouflage made its debut at the International Defense Industry Exhibition in Kielce as a camouflage pattern for the Dromader system of armor and uniforms from Maskpol, which is part of the Polish Armament Group. The system was created for soldiers of the Territorial Defense Army, but the MAPA camouflage itself was also considered as a perspective pattern for the entire Polish Armed Forces, where it could replace the wz.93 camouflage. Unfortunately, the MAPA camouflage has not been implemented as an official camouflage pattern of the Polish Army to date.
The most important features of the MAPA camouflage in the basic forest variant:
- 6 colors that create layers resembling levels on a map,
- colors optimized for operations in the forests of Central Europe,
- use of the illusion of three-dimensionality and anamorphosis effect,
- biomorphic shapes making the pattern similar to vegetation,
- strongly contrasting elements imitating flashes of light and shadows,
- deformation of the masked silhouette using macro pattern,
- color noise reproduced by means of a micro pattern.
The MAPA pattern is an interesting alternative to the best contemporary camouflage patterns such as PenCott, MultiCam, Kryptek, Flecktarn or Finnish M/05. In some respects, it is more advanced than them, and better reproduces the colors found in Central European forests in the period from later spring to early autumn.
The kidney is equipped with a main compartment and a front compartment. Both are closed with zippers. The main compartment has a flat open pocket where you can carry, for example, your wallet.
Next to the front pocket (on two sides), straps of the Molle trouser system have been sewn on. The webbing allows you to carry items of urgent equipment. A velcro panel was sewn on the front, allowing to mark the hip with a patch with the national flag, unit emblem or the so-called Morale Patch.
Paracord cords are attached to the end of each zipper, which dampen the bumping of the zipper ends against each other, and can also act as spare trousers. The zipper of the main compartment is covered with a strip, which prevents the accumulation of dirt. The front compartment zipper is also shielded by a strip.
The kidney can be worn on the belt or on the chest. The belt is fastened with a 60 mm quick release buckle (fastex) and has an adjustable length (maximum 110 cm).
