Wisport Sparrow 20 l Backpack - MAPA
Modernized version of the bestselling Sparrow model! Made of CORDURA 500D compact survival-military backpack, derived from the popular urban Raven model. The ideal fit back shape has been adapted to new uses - the main compartment (about 17 liters) can be fully packed with luggage of this volume. Access is provided by a zipper that unfastens the flap on three edges.
New features:
- wider and longer transport grip moved from the back wall of the backpack to the center of the upper part of the main compartment,
- in the main compartment, 4 D-rings have been sewn on the back wall allowing to hook up additional accessories,
- the mesh pocket in the main compartment has been divided into two smaller, zippered pockets,
- now similar to the main compartment, the zipper in the smaller compartment is unzipped to the lower edges of the backpack (previously halfway),
- wider trim covering the zipper of the main compartment,
- slat covering the zipper of the smaller compartment (previously missing),
- slats covering the zipper of the flat front pocket (previously missing),
- upgraded organizer located in the smaller compartment,
- covers of the profiled carrying system (including the suspenders on the inside) made of compacted, non-hooking material.
Inside, the backpack has a zipper for a reservoir hydration system, a hole for leading the hose and two handles (one each on the suspenders) for attaching it.
The flap has a flat pocket the size of the main compartment and about 4 cm thick - enough to hold maps, documents and even a small laptop. There is a small flat pocket on the front of the flap.
There is also a small flat pocket on the front of the flap.
The front, bottom and sides have sewn straps PALS (inch-long) MOLLE trouser system (an arrangement of inch-long straps sewn every inch). They allow you to carry items of equipment on the outside of the backpack urgent need (urgent need), items too large to fit inside, or extra pockets.
The side walls also have two, adjustable-length straps fastened with buckles fastex 30 mm each. They are used to compress the backpack (reduce its capacity considering the contents) and can also be useful for stable attachment of equipment carried outside - jacket, tarp, carimata or even camouflage net.
The carrying system guarantees comfort and excellent back ventilation (ACS - Air Comfort System) ensuring adequate rigidity of the backpack. Comfort is also influenced by fastened profiled adjustable-length suspenders and chest strap.
The camouflage pattern MAPA was designed by Maciej Dojlitko, a graduate and currently a researcher at the Faculty of Architecture and Design of the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk, author of, among others, the publication Theory of deconstruction of visual message. Tools of military camouflage design (Gdansk 2015). The innovative design, supported by convincing theoretical and experimental arguments, including computer analysis of thousands of terrain photographs, has attracted the attention of specialists and military clothing manufacturers. In 2017, the MAPA camouflage made its debut at the International Defense Industry Exhibition in Kielce as a camouflage pattern for the Dromader system of armor and uniforms from Maskpol, which is part of the Polish Armament Group. The system was created for soldiers of the Territorial Defense Army, but the MAPA camouflage itself was also considered as a perspective pattern for the entire Polish Armed Forces, where it could replace the camouflage pattern wz.93. Unfortunately, the MAPA camouflage has not been implemented as an official camouflage pattern of the Polish Army to date.
Most important features of MAPA camouflage in the basic forest variant:
- 6 colors creating layers resembling levels on a map,
- colors optimized for operations in the forests of Central Europe,
- use of the illusion of three-dimensionality and anamorphosis effect,
- biomorphic shapes making the design similar to vegetation,
- strongly contrasting elements imitating flashes of light and shadows,
- deformation of the masked silhouette using macro pattern,
- color noise reproduced by means of a micro pattern.
The MAPA pattern is an interesting alternative to the best contemporary camouflage patterns such as PenCott, MultiCam, Kryptek, Flecktarn or Finnish M/05. In some respects, it is more advanced than them, and better reproduces the colors found in Central European forests in the period from later spring to early autumn.
The backpack comes with a 5-year manufacturer's warranty.
