Lato w Hiszpanii – Katarzyna Nizinkiewicz

"Lato w Hiszpanii" (en. "Summer in Spain")  is a record of a trek across Spain - from the Pyrenees to the western edge of the Peninsula. In this 88-day, 2,300-kilometer expedition, however, it is not the feat that counts. There are no records or climbs to the heights of endurance. Instead, there is a strictly literary diary of a woman who goes her own way. Into the depths of Spain - and into herself. Toward cognition. Along the way she meets people - good and bad, animals - dangerous and friendly. But she is accompanied - from beginning to end, especially in moments of doubt and extreme fatigue - by only one mysterious, discreet figure: Angel.

Katarzyna Nizinkiewicz has been hiking alone for years. Her routes lead through the outskirts of Europe, often off the beaten track, almost always through the wilderness, places that are forgotten, but how interesting because of that. This is also the case with Summer in Spain. Reading this story, the reader discovers a new, unknown face of Spain - the real, non-commercial one; he marvels - along with the author, a careful observer - at the raw beauty of natural parks, mountains, forests, meadows unspoiled by civilization.
