Rhodesian Camo is a unique, distinctive camouflage pattern that was developed for the armed forces of Rhodesia (now the Zimbabwean territories). The pattern was developed for the conditions of the African terrain, which is dominated by savannahs, tropical forests and semi-desert areas.
Rhodesian Camo was based on irregular patches in shades of green and brown that blend well with the natural environment. The camouflage provides the ability to blur the human silhouette in open terrain and in areas with dense vegetation. It has proven particularly effective in operations conducted by Rhodesian special forces.
The Rhodesian Camo camouflage pattern played a key role during the Rhodesian conflict of 1964-1979. Although Rhodesia has now disappeared from the maps, the camouflage pattern remains a reminder of the region's military history. Rhodesian Camo is popular with collectors, military fans or survivalists. The pattern itself is original, making wearers stand out clearly in a crowd.
