Special Forces of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Poland, like their counterparts in the armed forces of other countries, have unique characteristics that distinguish them from other types of troops or armed forces. They are distinguished by their ability to carry out simultaneous operations in the land, air and sea dimensions, the precision of their operations, the unconventionality of the tactics and techniques used, a high level of readiness for use and considerable efficiency. Therefore, they are envisaged for particularly important tasks, which are most often beyond the capabilities of conventional troops.

The book "Polish Special Forces in the Modern World. Study of Challenges and Threats" is intended to familiarize the reader with the state of the Polish special forces at the present time (that is, the year 2020) against the background of their counterparts in other countries, to show the impact of external factors on their functioning, as well as to indicate possible directions of evolution in the development of our commandos.

The book is also intended to provide the reader with an overview of the situation of the Polish special forces at the present time (that is, the year 2020) against the background of their counterparts in other countries.

The author, in an attempt to determine the desired changes, decided to rely on the knowledge and experience of hundreds of Polish special forces soldiers, many publications available both in the form of compact studies and those posted on the Internet. They deepened the author's knowledge and verified the view, which was the fruit of self-observation resulting from twelve years of service in special units and more than two years of service at the Academy of Military Arts as a senior lecturer dealing with special forces issues.

Lt. Col. res. dr. Marek Gryga  is the author of a number of publications and studies devoted to commandos and the operations they carry out.
